Resolution Calculator
Enter a width and height in pixels. This tool shows the total pixel count and the megapixels. Use the presets to load common sizes like 1080p or 4K.
Enter a width and height to see the pixel count.
Total pixels is width times height. Divide by one million for megapixels. A 4K frame holds four times the pixels of 1080p.
How It Works
Type the width and height in pixels. The total pixels and megapixels update as you type.
Total pixels is width times height. Divide by one million to get megapixels.
The presets fill in standard sizes so you can compare them fast without typing the numbers.
The Formula
A 1920 by 1080 frame is 1920 times 1080, which is 2,073,600 pixels.
Divide by one million for megapixels: 2,073,600 becomes about 2.07 MP.
A 4K frame at 3840 by 2160 is 8,294,400 pixels, or about 8.29 MP, four times the pixels of 1080p.
Worked Example
Take a standard 1080p frame: 1920 wide by 1080 tall.
Multiply: 1920 times 1080 is 2,073,600 pixels.
That is about 2.07 megapixels, the pixel count behind every Full HD frame.
Common Uses
- Comparing the pixel count of 1080p, 1440p, and 4K.
- Checking the megapixels of a camera or screen resolution.
- Confirming a custom export size before you render.
- Seeing how much detail a resolution holds versus another.
