Why Does TikTok Add Watermarks Anyway?
It's promotional. Every watermarked clip that lands on Instagram, Twitter, or someone's WhatsApp is free advertising for TikTok. That's great for them — not always great for you. The username and logo sit in the corner of everything you save through the app, and there's no setting to turn it off. It's baked in.
And it's not just aesthetic. Instagram and YouTube are known to deprioritize cross-posted content that still has a competitor's branding on it. So if you're posting your TikToks anywhere else, a clean file isn't optional — it's the smarter move.
