How to Download TikTok Videos on iPhone

iPhone's file download system is a bit different from Android. You'll use Safari (not Chrome), files land in the Files app, and moving them to Photos takes one extra step. Here's the complete walkthrough — from copying a link to having the video in your camera roll.

Ready to download? Paste your TikTok link and get a clean HD file in seconds.

Before You Start: Use Safari

The single most important thing to know about downloading files on iPhone: use Safari, not Chrome. Safari is the only iOS browser with native file download integration. It shows you a clear download progress indicator, saves files to the right place, and makes the whole experience smooth.

Chrome on iPhone can download files, but the experience is more confusing and file handling is less integrated with iOS. Save yourself the trouble and open Safari before starting.

Getting the TikTok Link

First, you need the link to the TikTok you want to download:

  1. Open the TikTok app and find the video.
  2. Tap the Share button — the arrow icon on the right side of the screen while the video is playing.
  3. In the share sheet, scroll down to find Copy Link and tap it.
  4. The link is now on your clipboard. You don't need to do anything else with it — just know it's there.

If you're watching TikTok in a browser (not the app), you can also copy the URL directly from Safari's address bar. Both methods give you the same link.

Downloading the Video

  1. Switch to Safari and navigate to downloaderi.com.
  2. Tap the input box on the page. Your keyboard should open.
  3. Long-press in the input field and tap Paste. The TikTok link appears in the box.
  4. Tap the Download button.
  5. Downloaderi will process the link — this takes 2–5 seconds. A result screen appears showing the video's thumbnail, title, and author.
  6. Tap Download HD to download the full video in the highest available quality. Or tap Download MP3 if you only want the audio track.
  7. A download begins immediately. You'll see a small arrow icon appear in the top-right area of Safari's toolbar — that's the download indicator. Tap it to watch progress.

Where the File Goes

When the download finishes, the file is in your Files app. Specifically:

  • Open the Files app (it's a blue folder icon, comes pre-installed on all iPhones).
  • Tap Browse at the bottom if you're not already there.
  • Tap On My iPhone.
  • Open the Downloads folder.
  • Your TikTok MP4 file is there.

If you don't see "On My iPhone" in Browse, your downloads are going to iCloud Drive instead. Look in iCloud Drive → Downloads. To change where Safari saves downloads, go to Settings → Safari → Downloads and switch to "On My iPhone."

Moving the Video to Your Camera Roll (Photos App)

The Files app is where the video lives, but most people want it in Photos. Here's how to move it:

  1. In the Files app, navigate to your Downloads folder.
  2. Find the video file (it'll be a .mp4 file).
  3. Long-press the file until a menu appears.
  4. Tap Share in the menu.
  5. In the share sheet, scroll down to find Save Video and tap it.
  6. The video now appears in your Photos app — check your Recents album.

This extra step is a quirk of iOS's file system. It takes about 10 seconds and becomes automatic after you've done it a few times.

AirDropping the Video to Another Device

If you want to send the downloaded video to your Mac, another iPhone, or an iPad:

  1. In the Files app, long-press the video file.
  2. Tap Share.
  3. Tap AirDrop in the share sheet.
  4. Select the target device. Make sure AirDrop is enabled on the receiving device (swipe down from the top-right corner to find it in Control Center).

The video arrives in the Files app on the receiving iPhone or iPad, and in ~/Downloads on Mac.

Troubleshooting

Download doesn't start / video plays instead of downloading. Try long-pressing the Download button in Downloaderi and selecting "Download Linked File." This forces Safari to download rather than preview. If you're on an older iOS version, update to iOS 15 or later for the smoothest experience.

Can't find the file after downloading. Open Files → Browse. Check both "On My iPhone → Downloads" and "iCloud Drive → Downloads." One of those has your file.

Not enough storage. TikTok HD videos are typically 20–80MB. If you get a storage error, check Settings → General → iPhone Storage and free up space before downloading.

Downloaded video won't play. The file is a standard MP4. Tap it in Files to play in QuickTime, or move it to Photos as described above.

A Note on Video Quality

Downloaderi downloads the highest quality version TikTok stores — typically 720p or 1080p. This is actually better quality than what you'd get using TikTok's built-in "Save video" feature, which re-encodes the video and adds a watermark. What you get here is the original upload, clean.
