Download TikTok Videos on iPhone
iPhone makes TikTok downloading easy once you know one thing: use Safari. Everything else — where files land, how to get them into Photos, how to AirDrop them — follows from there. Here's the complete guide.
One Thing to Know Before You Start: Use Safari
Safari isn't just the default browser on iPhone — it's genuinely the best choice for downloading files on iOS. When you tap Download in Safari, a progress indicator appears right in the toolbar. The file goes straight to your Files app in a Downloads folder you can access immediately. Chrome on iOS handles things differently and can leave you hunting around for the file afterward.
So: use Safari. That's the one rule.
Step-by-Step: Download TikTok on iPhone
- Open TikTok, find the video you want.
- Tap the Share button — the arrow on the right side of the screen.
- Scroll through the share options and tap Copy Link.
- Switch to Safari, go to downloaderi.com.
- Tap the address bar, paste the link, tap Download.
- On the result screen, tap Download HD for video or Download MP3 for audio.
- A small arrow-down icon appears in Safari's top toolbar — that's the download indicator. Tap it to watch progress.
- When it finishes, the file is in Files app → On My iPhone → Downloads.
On an iPhone 15 running iOS 17 and above this whole flow takes under 30 seconds.
Moving the Video to Your Photos App
Downloads land in Files, not Photos. Here's how to move them — takes about 10 seconds:
- Open the Files app.
- Navigate to On My iPhone → Downloads.
- Long-press the video file.
- Tap Share.
- Tap Save Video. It shows up in Photos immediately.
After you do it a few times it becomes second nature — genuinely takes 10 seconds.
iCloud vs On My iPhone
Your iPhone saves downloads to either local storage or iCloud Drive, depending on your Safari settings. To check: Settings → Safari → Downloads. "On My iPhone" stores files locally — faster to access, doesn't eat iCloud quota. "iCloud Drive" syncs files to your Mac automatically, which is handy if you edit on desktop.
AirDrop to Mac or Other Devices
Once the file is in Files, you can AirDrop it anywhere:
- Open Files → Downloads.
- Long-press the video, tap Share.
- Tap AirDrop and pick the device.
The receiving Mac saves it to ~/Downloads. The receiving iPhone puts it in Files. Simple.
Audio Downloads Work the Same Way
On the result screen, tap Download MP3 instead. The MP3 goes to Files the same way as a video. From there you can share it, import it to the Music app, or use it as a ringtone via GarageBand.
Troubleshooting
Can't find the file? Open Files → Browse → On My iPhone → Downloads. If your Downloads location is set to iCloud, check Files → Browse → iCloud Drive → Downloads instead.
Safari played the video instead of downloading it? Long-press the Download button and choose "Download Linked File." And if you're on iOS 15 and above — which you should be by now — this issue basically doesn't come up.
