Download TikTok Videos on Mac
Mac makes TikTok downloading straightforward — open Downloaderi in Safari or Chrome, paste the link, and the video saves to your Downloads folder. Here's the full Mac guide, plus how to use your downloads in Final Cut and iMovie.
Safari or Chrome — Doesn't Matter Much on Mac
Both work great. Safari is slightly cleaner — downloads show in the toolbar and go to ~/Downloads without any extra configuration. Chrome on Mac behaves the same as on Windows and also saves to ~/Downloads by default. In my experience, if you're already in Safari, just use Safari. If you're a Chrome person, use Chrome. The downloaded file is identical either way.
Step-by-Step: Download TikTok on Mac
- Get the TikTok link — copy it from the mobile app (Share → Copy Link) or grab the URL from tiktok.com in your browser.
- Open Safari or Chrome and go to downloaderi.com.
- Paste the link and click Download.
- On the result screen, click Download HD.
- The file saves to ~/Downloads. In Safari, the arrow icon in the top-right shows progress. In Chrome, check the download bar at the bottom.
Finding Your Downloaded Files in Finder
Open Finder and click Downloads in the sidebar. Or press ⌘ + Option + L to jump straight there. The file is a standard .mp4 — double-click to open in QuickTime for a quick preview.
Using Downloaded TikToks in Mac Apps
Final Cut Pro — Import via the media browser. TikTok's 9:16 vertical format imports correctly — no fuss.
iMovie — Click Import Media and select the file. Handles vertical video natively.
QuickTime Player — Double-click and it plays. Great for quick preview and basic trims.
Logic Pro / GarageBand — For the MP3 audio version, import it as a standard audio file.
AirDrop to iPhone
Right-click the file in Finder → Share → AirDrop → select your iPhone. It arrives in the Files app on iPhone. From there, open Files, long-press the video, tap Share → Save Video to move it to Photos.
Audio Download on Mac
On the result screen, click Download MP3. The file saves to ~/Downloads as a .mp3 — import it into GarageBand, Logic Pro, or any audio app. Works just like any other MP3.
For Safari-specific details, see the Safari guide. For the Windows equivalent, see the Windows PC guide. If you want to AirDrop the file to your iPhone after downloading, the iPhone guide covers what happens on the receiving end.
